Discuss where we use maps in real-life. E.g. Melways, newspapers, atlases, venues. Discuss the language of direction. E.g. left, right, backwards, forwards. Create a poster listing directional language to refer to throughout the year.
Students choose two places in the classroom and write a set of directions for traveling between them. Students then swap with a partner and test each others' directions.
